Miami police were called to his room at the citizenM Miami Worldcenter Hotel on February 7 at 3:22 p.m., where he was pronounced dead 12 minutes later. His body was transported back to Long Island, where his funeral took place on February 16.

Before dating the Princess, Liuzzo was charged with the manslaughter of Jonathan R. Duchatellier, a fellow student at the College of the Holy Cross, after a drunken fight. His charge was later reduced to assault and battery, resulting in 100 hours of community service. When his relationship with Beatrice went public, he was sent back to the US for violating his three-year probation, which was extended by six months.

Liuzzo, who inherited his fortune from his father, worked as an art industry consultant at the time of his death. He had a troubled past, including a 2009 incident in Australia’s Gold Coast where he crashed a rental car and was later arrested for fraud and cocaine possession after attempting to dine and dash at a casino.

Princess Beatrice, now 35, has not commented on Liuzzo’s death. She married entrepreneur Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in July 2020, and they share a 2-year-old daughter, Sienna Elizabeth. Mozzi also has a son, Christopher “Wolfie” Woolf, 6, from a previous relationship with Dara Huang.
