The quiet death of Michael Dennis George, 62, took place at his home in Overland Park, KS, on March 4, 2024. Michael was born in Olathe on March 26, 1961. His parents were Chris George, Sr. and Neva Clevenger George. He was the ninth of twelve kids. He went to St. Paul’s Catholic School and Olathe High School, where he finished in 1979.
Mike’s first job was with his dad’s building company when he was a teenager. Later, he worked for Chris George Homes for over 45 years. People will always remember Mike for how hard he worked and what he did for the custom home-building business. All of his heart and soul went into his work, and it changed everyone who worked with him.
Dr. George was not only a very good surgeon but also a committed leader who worked hard all his life to improve his patients’ vision and quality of life. The medical community is missing a big figure since he left so quickly. The office said, “Dr. George was not only a very skilled surgeon but also a caring leader who dedicated his career to giving our patients the best care possible.” “His coworkers, patients, and the whole community will miss him very much.”
Because of this terrible event, the Irving and McKinney offices of the Tylock-George Eye Care and Laser Center will be closed for a while. The office is currently getting through this tough time and figuring out what to do next for patient care and business. There was a press release that said, “We appreciate our patients, staff, and community’s understanding and patience during this difficult time.” “We will let you know as soon as possible about any new information about the reopening of our offices and ongoing patient care.”
In the top 10% of his class at Louisiana State University, Dr. George earned his medical degree, which was the first step in his career as an ophthalmologist. He then did his training in ophthalmology at the University of Louisville Lions Eye Center in Kentucky, where he learned even more and got better at what he did.
He became even more skilled by doing a study in corneal and refractive surgery at the Wang Vision Institute in Nashville, where the famous surgeon Ming Wang taught him the ropes. During his training, Dr. George became one of the best surgeons in the world for 3D LASIK and cataract surgery, changing the lives of tens of thousands of people.
When Dr. George joined Tylock-George Eye Care and Laser Center in 2012, he quickly became an important part of the business. The founder of the practice, Dr. Gary Tylock, and he were the first doctors in Texas to use the cutting-edge WaveLight Refractive Suite Laser. Dr. George was also very good at treatment for cataracts and lens implants. His new methods and caring attitude set new standards for patient care in these areas.
