Many people looked twice at Selena Gomez that night when she wore a stylish red Oscar de la Renta dress. Since 2015, it had been a while since she had been to an award show.
The singer, actress, and composer was up for Song of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, and Best Afrobeats VMA. She won the last award for her song “Calm Down” with Rema.
“‘Calm Down’ is about the events that led me to finding love at the time,” Rema told Pitchfork about the song. “It started at a party where I saw a girl who stood out from other girls so I felt like shooting my shot. We spoke and danced…but her friends didn’t let me get any closer which killed the vibe, but afterward when they weren’t there, we stayed in touch and hit it off.”

There was a lot of talk about the 31-year-old that night, but not for the reason you might think. Fans who watched the MTV Video Music Awards 2023 on social media thought that Selena Gomez might be pregnant.
Someone said, “Selena Gomez looked pregnant.”
Someone else asked, “What’s wrong with Selena Gomez’s face? She doesn’t look like herself. Is she pregnant or something?”
I thought for a second that Selena Gomez was pregnant even though she looked beautiful at the VMAs. It’s not a joke,” a fan wrote on the sites.
Someone else said, “It’s very clear that Selena Gomez is pregnant.”
