Check out The $1800 Social Security Payment Date!

A new month is almost here, which means one thing for everyone who gets Social Security: an average payment of $1,800 is coming. The Social Security Administration sends more than 70 million payouts every month to people who are eligible for the program. Most of these people are retired workers.

People who are retired will get an average of $1,827 a year in 2023. The exact amount, though, relies on several things, such as their work history, the amount of money they made while working, and how much they paid into Social Security during that time. All of these things are taken into account along with the worker’s age when they decide to quit.

Every Wednesday, checks are sent out, but the exact date rests on the beneficiaries’ birthdays. People born between January 1st and October 10th get their money on the second Wednesday of each month. People born between January 11th and October 20th get their money on the third Wednesday of each month. People born between July 21 and July 31 get their money on the last Wednesday of every month.

People who get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or retire before May 1997 do not fall under the old plan because they get their money on the first of the month.

January 2023 Social Security payments of $1,800: exact dates of payments in December 2023
If you look at how the funds are split, this is how the December Social Security check schedule looks, based on the beneficiaries’ dates of birth:

  •  December 1: SSI beneficiaries and those who began receiving their payments before May 1997
  • December 13: Beneficiaries with a date of birth from the 1st to the 10th
  • December 20: Beneficiaries with a date of birth from the 11th to the 20th
  • December 27: Beneficiaries with a date of birth from the 21st to the 31st

People who get SSI will get two payments in December. This is because the first cheque is coming early in January. After all, the real payment date is on a weekend. The first payment for people who get Supplemental Security Income in 2024 is due on December 29. It will include the automatic 3.2% COLA raise.
