A Look at Jaguar Wright’s Time With The Roots
Wright went on tour with the hip-hop group “The Roots” in 1998 after they heard about her. After that, she sang backup for Jay-Z on MTV Unplugged in 2001 and was in a Coca-Cola ad as part of the brand’s “Nu Soul” line.
So far, she has only released two albums by herself. The first was Denials Delusions and Decisions in 2002, and the second was Divorcing Neo 2 Marry Soul in 2005. Wright also put out a record called…And Your Point Is? But MCA Records went out of business before it could come out in 2003. That was the same company that put out Wright’s first record.
It came out in July 2005 and peaked at number 62 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. A lot of the songs that were made for that album were later put on Divorcing Neo 2 Marry Soul. Wright has been on tour every year since her first album came out.
In March 2008, she went to Europe with Bahamadia and Hezekiah on the “Philly Sounds” tour. However, Wright did play cover versions of “Gipsy Woman (She’s Homeless)” by Crystal Waters and “Saturday Love” by Cherrelle. He did not play any new songs on the trip.
In the autumn of 2009, the theme song “Beautiful” came out. Wright released an EP with five songs in 2019 called “Lost” on Bandcamp. Wright got into fights with Roots members and said bad things about artists like Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, and Mary J. Blige on social media in 2020. There were a lot of stories about her.
She also said that Common, who was her boyfriend at the time, raped her after a show in the middle of the 2000s. Wright was in the news again in 2022 when she talked about the bad things that happened in the Hip-Hop music business.
