Kali Uchis and Don Toliver should be very happy because they are going to have their first child together. They shared the happy news on Instagram on Thursday (Jan. 11), along with a video of the two of them dancing, showing off her bump, and the rapper rubbing and kissing her belly. The video also included clips of the two of them as kids.
“Awww, look how much your daddy loves you, little pooks!” Uchis coos as Toliver gives her a big kiss on the bump in one scene. He will always love you!”
“Starting our family,” the pair wrote under the picture. “Get here quickly, little books. Your parents can’t wait to share our lives with you.” They didn’t say when their baby was going to be born.
This good news comes just one day before Uchis’s second Spanish-language record, Orquideas, comes out. Watch the video for “Tu Corazon es Mio” from her upcoming fourth album, which will also have songs from Karol G, Peso Pluma, Rauw Alejandro, and more.
In an interview with W Magazine in 2021, “We’re not crazy public or nothing like that. We just vibe,” he said at the time. The two traveled to Uchis’ Colombian motherland to shoot a pair of music videos for the first two singles of Toliver’s 2021 sophomore album Life of a DON — “What You Need” and “Drugs N Hella Melodies,” featuring Uchis — and he met some of her local family. “I already had it in my mind to go out there and shoot a video with her incorporated into it, to make it a real-deal situation,” he said. During his interview with Nardwuar in March, he gushed about his girl, saying, “She’s amazing. I love her artistry! Her artistry is beyond.”
This year at Coachella, Uchis brought Toliver out to perform “Fantasy” from her third record, Red Moon in Venus, which came out in March. They also worked together on his third record, Love Sick, which came out in February. The song “4 Me” is from that album.
