Who Is Kate Norley?
I joined the U.S. Army when I was 19 years old, Kate Norley. After the 9/11 events, she wanted to give back to her country. The Sun says that while Kate was in Iraq, she worked as both a combat medic and a mental health expert. Kate committed herself to helping veterans by working with the group Vets for Freedom when she got back to the U.S. Kate backs the GOP, but her husband backs the Democrats.
How Did John Oliver Meet Kate?
It was at the 2008 Republican National Convention that John and Kate met. John was there to cover the event for The Daily Show, and Kate was there to promote Vets for Freedom. At the time, John, who is British, had a temporary work visa. That night, he almost had to leave the country because of Kate. The Daily Beast says that Kate and a group of soldiers helped hide John from the security team that found him in a restricted area and would have arrested him. That night, John and Kate hit it off, and soon after, they began dating.
John and Kate’s Marriage
John asked Kate to marry him in St. Thomas in July 2010. “I was a medic in the Army,” Kate told PEOPLE after the date. Even though it was hard, it’s nice to be able to spend time with my beloved right now. John said, “Going out with someone who has done something useful with their life is the most sexist thing I could ever do.”
In October 2011, a year after getting engaged, John and Kate got married in a small group. Over the years, they have kept most of the information about their wedding secret.

They have two boys together, born in 2015 and 2018. Hudson, their first boy, was born before he should have been. John had told the Hollywood Reporter about Kate’s pregnancy in the past: “Kate was in the hospital, it was very hard for months before.” “And having the show at the same time, it was the worst… “It was a strange experience,” he said. John didn’t tell anyone about Hudson’s birth for more than 150 days. “My son is here.” He’s 19 months old. “He was born early after a very hard pregnancy,” he said on an episode of “Last Week Tonight.” John also didn’t tell anyone about the birth of his second son until the child was three months old. At the 2018 Emmy Awards Governors Ball, he told PEOPLE the news.
John finally talked about why he didn’t just say that he had twin boys on Jimmy Fallon’s talk show in November 2018. He told the talk show, “We didn’t say anything about it because it doesn’t matter.” “It’s very important to me.” That’s what I want to say.
