There were a few years after high school when she traveled and worked in several places, such as the US, England, and Israel. After that, Botha went back to South Africa and started studying business administration at Wilmington University. She also went to the Waterford Kamhlaba United World College of Southern Africa (UWCSA) in Swaziland, Boston University in the US, and the African Studies Programme at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
