Barbara, born on August 30, 1948, in Morton, Texas, was the daughter of Bud England and Mentha Lee (Coleman) England. She pursued her education in Idabel, Oklahoma, and later attended Beauty College in Paris, Texas, embracing her passion for beautifying the world.
As a skilled beautician, Barbara worked at Reba’s Beauty Shop in Konawa and various other locations, leaving a trail of satisfied clients.
A Journey of Love
On December 30, 1975, Barbara united in marriage with Ricky Wayne Barrett at the Church of Christ in Konawa. Their journey of love spanned forty-eight years, marked by relocations in pursuit of employment opportunities, leading them to cities in Oklahoma and Georgia. They returned to Sasakwa in 2002, finally retiring in 2019.
A Talented Soul
Beyond her profession, Barbara was a woman of diverse talents. Her artistic flair shone through in her love for painting and various arts and crafts. An avid collector, she found joy in amassing art glass and antique glassware. For those privileged to know her well, Barbara’s heart was both tender and caring, especially towards her family.
Remembering Barbara
Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, Ricky, and leaves a lasting impact on her children: Sharon Billings, Paul Wheeler and wife Susan, Karen Nail and husband Scott, and Mary Hopkins. She is also fondly remembered by her sisters, Betty Byington and Brenda Gardner. Barbara’s legacy extends to ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Farewell Tribute
A memorial service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Konawa Church of Christ. Following the service, a lunch will be provided in the fellowship hall, offering friends and family an opportunity to share memories and support one another.
In place of flowers, the family welcomes those who wish to express their condolences to consider planting a tree in memory of Barbara Ann Barrett. Let her spirit live on in the beauty of nature.
