Tennis players Mario Lopez and Courtney Lopez (née Mazza) met on Broadway in 2008. Since then, they’ve been dating off-stage.

In 2010, they had their daughter Gia Francesca, who was their first child together. They got married in Punta Mita, Mexico, in December 2012. The fun outdoor wedding, which included a mariachi band and Gia as the flower girl, was filmed for the TLC show Mario and Courtney’s Wedding Fiesta.

With the births of their kids Dominic Luciano in 2013 and Santino Rafael in 2019, Mario and Courtney added to their family.

Both of them have been busy on social media during their relationship, posting sweet messages to each other and news about their families.

On their 10th wedding anniversary, the Saved by the Bell star posted a montage of photos from throughout their relationship, writing in the caption: “To my gorgeous wife, you’re my ride or die, partner in crime & mi corazón… Salúd to 10 years and here’s to 100 more…”

She began acting when she was little

Courtney had a lot of fun as a child acting in musicals. She started modeling when she was 3 years old and did her first musical when she was 6 years old.

“I started taking dance class [at the time], went to a performing arts middle school, high school and college, and went to New York and pursued my dream [to be on Broadway],” she told NUVOtv in May 2014.

Mario and she met on the set of A Chorus Line on Broadway

Mario met Courtney for the first time in 2008 when they were both in the Broadway production of “A Chorus Line.”

“I was doing a six-month run on a show called A Chorus Line, and towards the last two months of the run, Courtney Mazza, this little Italian girl from Pittsburgh, came on the show,” Mario told Access Hollywood in April 2020.

Mario played Zach, the show’s director, while Courtney was a swing and an understudy for three different roles. He was drawn to Courtney immediately and tried to initiate a conversation, but she seemed indifferent.

“I saw her perform, and she sings and dances and [she’s] really talented which is very attractive, but she was not trying to give me any time or show me any love,” he said in a 2017 YouTube video posted on the Lopez family’s channel.

Mario went after Courtney for a few months before they set up their first date. However, Courtney canceled and didn’t show up. They finally rescheduled, and they haven’t been apart since.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mario and Courtney reenacted the first song from A Chorus Line with other former cast members.

She and Mario dated for a while but lived far away from each other

Mario went back to Los Angeles after his time in A Chorus Line, but Courtney stayed in New York to be a dancer in The Little Mermaid on Broadway. To keep their relationship going, she went to see him a lot.

“I only had Mondays off. So, I would take the 6 o’clock flight on Sunday right after my matinee and rush to the airport,” Courtney told Access Hollywood. “I wouldn’t get in bed until like 1:00 in the morning. And then we’d get up, I’d go to your show with you, and then I’d be in the car at 4:00 a.m. Tuesday morning to catch a 6:00 flight to be back [in New York] for my 7:00 p.m. show Tuesday night.”

She later shared in a Q&A video on their YouTube channel that the distance was a true test of their relationship.

“We could either grow apart very easily or end up missing each other so much, and luckily, he missed me, and here I am now,” she said.

She and Mario have starred in TV and movies together

Mario and Courtney have worked together on several TV and movie projects.

Mario was an executive producer of the 2014 dance reality show Love & Salsa, which she presented. In 2020, Courtney was on the Netflix comic show The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia, which starred Mario and whose co-creator and executive producer he was also.

When Saved by the Bell was brought back by Peacock, Mario played A.C. Slater again, but this time he was the gym teacher at Bayside High. He starred with Courtney as Michelle, a woman Slater starts dating after a random date.

Maria and Courtney’s Wedding Fiesta on TLC was not the only reality show that the husband and wife were in. In 2010, they had their own show on VH1 called Mario Lopez: Saved By The Baby.

The couple’s newest project is a Great American Family movie called My Grown-Up Christmas Wish, which will come out in late 2024. Dom, Mario and Courtney’s middle child, also plays in it.

In 2012, she got married to Mario

The wedding took place in Punta Mita, Mexico, on December 1, 2012. Three of Mario’s nieces and their then-2-year-old daughter Gia were flower girls. A mariachi band and a cake created by Cake Boss star Buddy Valastro were part of the fancy wedding. There were two hours of footage used for a TLC show called Mario & Courtney’s Wedding Fiesta, which aired on December 8, 2012.

Mario had been married to actor Ali Landry before this marriage, which was Courtney’s first.

Mario and she have three kids together

On September 11, 2012, they had their first child, a girl named Gia Francesca.

Mario told Extra at the time, “We are so happy.”Welcoming our daughter into the world was such an amazing, wonderful, and overwhelming experience.”

After some time, on September 9, 2013, their son Dominic “Nico” Luciano joined the family. Son Santino Rafael, whom they called “a Christmas miracle,” was born on July 7, 2019.

Over the years, Mario and Courtney have shared several photos of their children. In October 2019, Mario posted a picture on Instagram of the kids dressed as Saved by The Bell characters for Halloween: Gia went as Bayside High cheerleader Kelly Kapowski, Dominic dressed as Zack Morris and Santino was Mario’s character, A.C. Mario and Courtney co-host the iHeartRadio show On with Mario Lopez. Among other things, the show talks about Hollywood rumors and showbiz news.

In 2017, 2018, and 2021, Courtney sang the National Anthem for the Los Angeles Dodgers. They put together a YouTube video for the family channel that showed behind-the-scenes images of her 2017 performance.

She and Mario work with a lot of causes together

For more than ten years, Courtney and Mario have worked on charitable projects together. Instead of giving gifts at their wedding, the pair asked their guests to give money to charity.

For our wedding, we didn’t have a gift list or call for presents. People were asked to give money to a good cause. Mario told PEOPLE in 2012, “That was important to us.”
