Millions of retirees can look forward to receiving their Social Security payments today, with some payments reaching up to $4,873.
The Social Security Administration (SSA) will disburse checks on May 22 to retirement claimants born between the 21st and 31st of any month.
Payment Schedule and Details
Recipients born earlier in the month should have already received their checks. Typically, those receiving regular retirement benefits without additional supplements, such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI), get their benefits on Wednesdays. Specifically:
- Recipients born between the 1st and 10th should have received their payment on May 8.
- Recipients born between the 11th and 20th should have received their payment on May 15.
For individuals living abroad or those who have been claiming Social Security since before 1997, payments were made on May 1. SSI beneficiaries, including elderly, blind, and disabled individuals with limited income and resources, also received their payments at the beginning of the month.
