Our dear Ryder Marcus Whitman, who was 18 years old, died in a motorcycle accident in Wayland, NY, on September 12.
Ryder was loved by many, including his mom, Sandy, dad, Kevin, and sister, Cami. He will also be missed every day by his grandparents, Deb and Jim McWhorter, Paula and Frank Dieter, Christie and Mark Whitman, and great-grandmother Carter, as well as by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

His enthusiasm for life was felt by many, as his kindness and sense of fun spread easily. He liked to hunt, fish, ski, play golf, and shoot sports clays. He played football for the Dansville Mustangs, baseball, and basketball when he was younger. Ryder did everything he could for his team.
In 2024, Ryder will graduate from Dansville High School. He began his college experience at Alfred State in the Heavy Equipment Operations Program. When Ryder worked at Whitco with his dad, Kevin, he picked the path he would take in his life. In his heart, he was sure that this was where he wanted to leave his mark on the world. The future looked good for Ryder because he was smart and worked hard.
Ryder had a short life, but it was full of love and happiness because he gave so much of himself to other people. Ryder’s friends are living proof of how kind he is.
