On Sunday, the American country music artist and British actress posted a photo of themselves cuddling together to their Instagram profiles with the simple statement, “Happy Easter ❤️.” The photo shows Cyrus kissing Hurley’s cheek and embracing her from the side while wearing lime green bunny ears headgear. In the midst of what looks to be an open field, Hurley, sporting a cowboy hat, smiles brightly as the couple leans on an old wooden fence.
Despite Hurley’s April 9 Instagram video from the Maldives set to Cyrus’ 1993 song “She’s Not Cryin’ Anymore,” the duo has never been romantically connected.
Entertainment Weekly has contacted representatives for Hurley and Cyrus. Damian Hurley, the actor’s son from her first marriage to Steve Bing, an American businessman and CEO of Shangri-La Entertainment, wished the couple well by leaving a comment with a red heart and a joyful emoji.
Hurley stated of Grant in a 2015 Watch What Happens Live episode, “He used to irritate me, but he’s still my best buddy to this day, and I would say this if he were sitting here. He’s so obnoxious, even if I adore him… He was known to my pals as Grumplestiltskin.”
Hurley’s remarks were similar to those made by Grant ten years prior, in 2003, when he acknowledged that “we’re good friends,” but he also made fun of his attractiveness as a romantic partner by saying, “I’m full of poison and jealousy…. Virtually no milk of human kindness.”
Hurley and Cyrus have never been on the same screen together; however, Gilbert did make an appearance on season 14 of Dancing With the Stars in 2012, while Cyrus made an appearance on the fourth season of the reality competition series in 2007.
Seven months after their marriage, in June 2024, Cyrus filed for divorce from Australian singer Firerose. The musicians started dating in 2022, months after Cyrus’s divorce from Tish Cyrus, his wife of 29 years and the mother of Noah and Miley.
Hurley was previously married from 2007 until 2010 to Arun Nayar, an Indian businessman. Hurley announced her engagement to Australian cricketer Shane Warne shortly after their divorce, and the two parted ways in 2013. In addition, Hurley had a 13-year relationship with Hugh Grant from 1987 to 2000.
“He’s still my best friend, and I would say his name if he were sitting here, but he used to annoy me,” Hurley said of Grant in a 2015 Watch What Happens Live interview. He’s so obnoxious, but I adore him… He was known to my pals as Grumplestiltskin.
Hurley’s remarks mirrored those of Grant ten years prior, in 2003, when he acknowledged that “we’re good friends” but mocked his attractiveness as a romantic partner by adding, “I’m full of poison and jealousy…. Virtually no milk of human kindness.”
