Celine Dion, the singer, shared a rare picture of herself with her three boys along with an update on her diagnosis of stiff-person syndrome.
In her post, Dion talked about International Stiff-Person Syndrome Awareness Day, March 15, and how “trying to overcome” stiff-person syndrome had been “one of the hardest experiences” of her life.
Dion told the world in 2022 that she had been diagnosed with the illness and that it was making it hard for her to sing and walk. In May 2023, she canceled all of her planned performances. On December 20, 2023, Dion’s sister Claudette told a French newspaper that the singer could no longer move her legs.
According to the National Institute of Brain Disorders and Stroke, the disease is a brain condition that can’t be cured. It has some of the signs of an autoimmune disease. The Genetic and Rare Diseases Information Center says that less than 5,000 people in the US are thought to have the illness.
“I remain determined to one day get back onto the stage and to live as normal of a life as possible,” Dion wrote. “I am deeply grateful for the love and support from my kids, family, team and all of you!”

Since she was diagnosed, Dion has only been seen in public a few times. At the 2023 Grammys, she gave Taylor Swift the Album of the Year award. Before that, she was last seen with her kids at a hockey game.

Dion finished her message by saying she was here for people who were having a hard time with stiff-person syndrome.
