Charlotte, NC (Queen City News)— Janey Thompson, daughter of WBT radio broadcaster Bo Thompson, died Tuesday night from complications of a blood clot.
According to WBT, Janey was a sophomore biophysics major at Wake Forest University and a 2022 Myers Park High School graduate.
“The WBT and Radio One family are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Bo Thompson’s daughter, Janey,” WBT said. There are no words to comfort Bo and his family, but we are committed to supporting them in any way we can. We know WBT listeners pray for the Thompson family.”

Myers Park High School wrote on social media, “It is with great sadness that we share the news that Janey Thompson (MPHS – ’22) passed away. A blood clot in her leg traveled to her heart and killed her.” Janey loved MP, and a lot of our staff and kids loved her too. She went to MP and played basketball and softball.

The family has not yet said what they plan to do to pay tribute to Janey’s life. WBT says they’ll let you know when that information is ready.
