Louis Charles John McCall, aged 64, of Wenonah and Surf City, NJ, left an indelible mark on the hearts of many as he passed away suddenly on January 22, 2024. Born in Irvington, NJ, his life journey, filled with achievements, love, and community service, is now remembered with fondness and gratitude.
Professional Journey
Lou graduated from Bishop Eustace High School in 1977 and earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from St. Joseph’s University in 1981. A dedicated CPA, he served as the former head audit partner at BDO in Philadelphia and continued his impactful career at Continuity Operations Group.
Community Service
Beyond his professional achievements, Lou’s commitment to community service was unparalleled. He was a life member and past Assistant Fire Chief of the Surf City Volunteer Fire Company #1 and EMS. His roles included fire company trustee and treasurer of the Surf City Fireman’s Relief Association, and he served as an EMS Academy Instructor.
Lou’s community involvement extended to positions such as president of the Wenonah School Board, past president and trustee of the Wenonah Historical Society, past president of Wenonah Lions Club, past vice-chair of the Wenonah Planning and Zoning Board, and involvement with the Wenonah Athletic Association. He also served as the past audit chair of Visiting Nurses of Southern NJ and the former CFO of the Washington Twp. Ambulance Board and Rescue Association Inc.
Personal Passions
Lou’s love for his family was unmatched. He shared memorable vacations in Summerland Key, FL, and Surf City with his wife Vicki and their children. Known as a Lionel Train enthusiast, family photographer, and aficionado of biking and kayaking, Lou embraced life’s joys. His eclectic taste in music, from Bruce Springsteen to country melodies, reflected his vibrant spirit. Lou’s skills extended to fixing anything, and he often appointed himself as the Uber driver for his kids and grandkids.
Family and Friends
Lou is survived by his wife Vicki McCall, his children Heather, Louis, Christina, Sean, and Ryan, and seven beloved grandchildren. His family includes his mother, Joan McCall, two brothers, John McCall and Ken McCall, and his Firefighter/brother “Cousin John” Zalewski and his wife Marcia.
Lou is also remembered by his brothers-in-law, George Braun and Todd Braun and wife Martina, and his mother-in-law, Marcy Braun. He was predeceased by his father, Louis Charles McCall, father-in-law, George Braun, and sister-in-law, Karen McCall.
Louis Mccall Obituary And Funeral Report
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ, on Sunday, January 28, 2024, from 2 pm to 5 pm. Additional visitation will be held at the Church of the Incarnation, 240 Main Street, Mantua, NJ, from 9:30 am to 10:45 am, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am. Burial will follow in Wenonah Cemetery.
